It is always great when like minded people have similar experiences to your own when visiting a destination.

The destination in question is Victoria Falls. I am sharing Derek and Janet Houston’s experience with you underneath. If you need more information regarding the services offered by Houston Travel Marketing Services, please follow the link below.

Derek and Janet Houston chose to stay at the luxury David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa Livingstone Zambia in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Houston Travel Marketing Services

The stunning David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa is situated right on the bank of the Mighty Zambezi River a few kilometres upstream from the Falls…very tranquil  view indeed ………no thunder from the Falls or noisy helicopters/ microlights  buzzing over!

The Victoria Falls area of Zimbabwe and Zambia has always been one of our favourite destinations (I have probably been there a dozen times on business or holiday). This was my first visit for many years to the Zambian side and quite a revelation. Firstly Livingstone airport is now a modern, shiny spacious new airport and we were most impressed with Livingstone town…very neat, friendly , well kept gardens and shops….and good roads!

At the David Livingstone Safari Lodge we enjoyed the stunning views of the river from our magnificent Executive suite complete with it’s own jacuzzi

One of the must do trips at Victoria Falls is the Sunset cruise and the lodge’s own cruise Cruise boat The Lady Livingstone.

She is a very modern three deck cruise boat and is rated by many tour operators as the best sunset cruise boat on either side of the Zambezi. A big advantage for Incentive or Conference groups is that one or two of the decks can be reserved exclusively for their use.

The Lady Livingstone offers un crowded Lounge chair seating , unlimited drinks and an excellent snack menu.

To get down to the Falls the Lodge offers frequent complimentary return transfers to The Park entrance-only 10 minutes drive from the hotel.

I was most impressed by the Zambian side of The Falls –while the walk is not as long as that on the other side –it is just as interesting and you get as drenched by the spray!

Apart from the usual adventure activities one must do at Victoria Falls one of the attractions on the Zambian side is the luxurious Livingstone Express  Steam train Dinner trip for the ultimate dining experience back to the glorious age of steam travel in beautifully restored carriages reminiscent of Rovos Rail!

The train steams onto the Victoria Falls Bridge for a magnificent sunset view ……… there after you are  served a 6 course meal with all the appropriate silver cutlery, crystal glassware, the finest appropriate wines and chocolate truffle’s.

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge also offers a small conference facility catering for 50 persons.  Full day and half day conferencing is also available on board the Lady Livingstone a rather novel venue for a conference while you sail down the Zambezi River. Light meals can also be served on board.

No stay at The David Livingstone Safari Lodge is complete without a few treatments at the world renowned Spa and Wellness Centre recently invited to appear in the 2015 Conde Nast Johansen Spa Directory and 2014 Winner of the World Luxury Safari Spa for the African Continent …that is a well-deserved accolade!
