I often wonder why certain places are just beautiful and others not! Well, at Surval, there is absolutely nothing not to like or love! Nestled ‘on the valley’ just outside Oudtshoorn overlooking the Swartberg Mountains, this 18th century homestead turned olive estate is a glorious assault on the senses. The owners, Deon & Michelle van Wyk, are not hoteliers but in the ophthalmic (eye) industry and they certainly had vision whilst planning and developing Surval. They bought the property in 2006 and Surval as it stands today was opened in October 2011.

Taste
The Su Casa restaurant offers delectable meals with fresh and seasonal produce sourced from the area as much as possible. Our laid back lunch was an exceptionally positive experience with delicious food, beautifully presented and with excellent service. Su Casa’s offering range from relaxed bistro to high tea to fine dining. Su Casa is a member of Chaine des Rôtisseurs, the international gastronomic society founded in Paris in 1950.
Hear, touch & smell
Tranquil, relaxed, privileged! Nature just taking it‘s course with birds swooping, water flowing and expansive views. Do you prefer a high tea, a relaxed lunch under the trees or lazing at the pool, a braai at the lapa, a relaxed picnic? What about an olive and beer tasting or a tour of the farm or do star gazing on a clear summers’ night? Floating in a row boat on the small dam? Smell the lavender. Surval also partner with neighbours and thus offer guests horse riding, elephant experiences & game drives. The well-known Cango Caves, Crocodile farm, Ostrich farms, golf and various other activities nearby. If you ever thought that there is not enough to do in Oudtshoorn, you will be surprised. Being active or taking it slow, the choice is yours!
