Mannabay fine boutique hotel is situated in Oranjezicht, Cape Town within walking distance from the Gardens Shopping Centre, close to the central business district, Kloof road for many interesting shops and restaurants, close to cable car station, easy access to De Waal Drive and motorways and with great view of the central Cape Town, Table Mountain and Table Bay. In terms of facilities and location this property is suitable for both business and leisure travelers.
Mannabay officially opened in June 2010 and is owned by David Ryan who is passionate about and very involved in all aspects of this gorgeous property. David has also been personally involved in the interior design of Mannabay and once again I have to say: ‘there is no substitute for passion’ He is not new to the tourism industry as he is also the owner of Rhino Africa, a company who provides day tours in Cape Town and surrounding areas as well as more extensive custom made tours in South Africa, Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands (www.rhinoafrica.com)
This property consists of 7 individually themed and decorated rooms, each one with unique features and I must admit that it is very difficult to choose a favourite. Each room includes flat screen TV, iPod docking station, air conditioning as well as under floor heating, spacious en suite bathrooms with Moya amenities, unique custom designed cupboards and individual beach bag with beach towels. Most rooms have views of the city and or mountain.
In general Mannabay also offers complimentary internet access, secure basement parking, library with laptop access for guests, 24 / 7 butler service, full time chef, swimming pool, lift for access from basement to ground and first floor. Mannabay focuses on responsible tourism and is also a member of the Green Heritage Fund.
Mannabay has launched their boardroom during May 2011. This room is ideal for conferencing, wine tasting and private dinners for 10-12 guests. The general ground floor lounge and dining area is suitable for private parties and an exclusive use rate is available, utilizing the 7 rooms together with the other areas. Rooms rates range from R1 000 – R3 990 per room per night and includes breakfast, high tea and 1 x complimentary airport transfer. Children older than 6 years are welcome.
During my short visit a was impressed by the unique décor, attention to details, passionate staff and all the little interesting nooks and crannies, all contributing to adding Mannabay to my highly recommended category.
