Other than their regular Pretoria – Cape Town – Pretoria schedule, Rovos also travels to Victoria Falls (4 days), Dar es Salaam (15 days), Durban (3 days), Golf safaris (9 days) and Namibia (9 days)

Features:

  • Scheduled Pretoria to Cape Town or return journey, 2 nights on the train. Both include excursion stops in both Kimberley and Matjiesfontein
  • Maximum capacity of 72 passengers on any overnight journey
  • Suitable for couples, groups of friends as well as multi generational families for any occasion. During my experience I spoke to children on the train, they all enjoyed their journey.
  • In between scheduled trips Rovos Rail is available for private charter, Their Events Train can accommodate up to 250 pax for short journeys, 12 hours or less
  • 3 room categories available: Pullman suites, Deluxe suites as well as Royal Suites, all with en-suite bathrooms with shower. Royal Suites also include a bath. All room categories include South African Rooibos bathroom amenities. In the Pullman suites daytime sofas are converted into beds. With the other 2 categories beds are available together with additional chairs throughout your journey
  • Rates throughout the year: Pullman Suite R17 495 pps (per person sharing), Deluxe Suite R26 395 pps, Royal Suite R35 150. Single supplement is +50%. Rates include 2 night’s accommodation on the train, all meals and unlimited beverages, 24-hour room service as well as excursions accompanied by a qualified tour guide and all applicable government taxes. French champagne excluded
  • Rovos Rail offers a ‘2 for 1’ special on selected dates in July, August and September. This is available to residents from South Africa and bordering countries. Contact carla@carlarossouw.com for more information and bookings
  • Dress, smart casual during the day with smart dress during dinner. (Men with jacket & tie). Short and slops not allowed in the dining car
  • In keeping with the vintage colonial atmosphere no TV’s or wi-fi provided on board. Although certain sections of the route does not have cell / wi-fi coverage, passengers can use their own wi-fi devices on board
  • Aircon in room
  • Windows as well as metal shutters in compartments and passages can open
  • A observation car is available at the back of the train with both an inside and outside area available to guests
  • Breakfast is served between 07-10:00, lunch at 13:00, afternoon tea at 16:30 and formal dinner from at 19:30. Depending on the guess numbers, 1 or 2 dining cars are available and every guest can be accommodated at the same time for all meals
